Google Can’t Have My Music
If the internet was the earth, Google would be all five of its oceans combined. Between cell phone apps, maps, news, email, documents, shopping, books, videos and social networking, the online giant has sufficiently crushed all other competition… except for one thing. Music. Apple mostly had that niche covered with iTunes and the iPod until [...]
In Defense of “Friday”
You guys… “Friday” really isn’t that bad. Well, it is… but not in comparison to what I see on the iTunes top 100 chart.
House Republicans dislike women, Ira Glass, Big Bird and fun in general
It’s unlikely that this ridiculousness will get past the Senate floor, but also unsettling to know that 240 of our Representatives put politics ahead of people.
Review: “Born this Way” – Lady Gaga
What are those sound effects going on? Did Lady Gaga record her vocals in a busy arcade? Maybe it was a county fair.
It's Biebz's World. We're Just Living In It.
If you have a Twitter, Facebook, watch TV or just live on this planet, you’ve heard of Justin Bieber (who I will affectionately refer to as Biebz.)
Tween girls (and secretly, their mothers) want to kiss him, tween boys are jealous of his angelic voice and silky side-swept hair, and pretty much every mainstream artist wants to collaborate with him. But why? What does Biebz have that others don’t?
Dear Ticket Scalpers,
Stop. Really. It screws everyone over. I don’t want to turn this site into a giant rant, but since this pertains to the music industry, I’ll bite. Here’s a little anecdotal story for you. As you may know from a previous post, I’ve been extremely excited for the Sasquatch Music Festival. The lineup was released [...]
Quasi!
Last night, I met my personal hero/primary drumming influence… aka Janet Weiss of Quasi and Sleater-Kinney! Quasi played at the Depot, a small cafeteria-like room which is obviously not meant for quality acoustics. However, the sheer power of the threesome overcame the sub-par setting. Most surprising was the size of the audience (or lack thereof). [...]
Hey Newspapers: Get Your Heads in the Game! Really.
Note: this is going to be a… not comical post. Sometimes I’m not funny. (Not often but occasionally) The news industry of late is a little disheartening for me to think about. It’s no secret that news companies are failing big time. I could be wrong, but I don’t think any publication is seeing a [...]
Best/Worst Of: Most Annoying Moments of '09
2009 is quickly coming to an end, which means it’s time for a myriad of best of lists to be released throughout the media! However, it’s not only the end of the year, but the end of the decade. Crayyyzayy. I have compiled a few lists that will be released over time. My first list [...]
I Can't Hear Myself Talking, But I'm Saying "OW THIS HURTS"
I am currently on amoxicillin, sudafed, and ibuprofen yet I still feel as if a really annoying person is poking my eardrums with a knife. To explain my current state, I’ll provide a (very) long poem. I went to sleep last night, feeling fit and fine… knowing I didn’t have to wake up for quite [...]
Every Season is Flip Flop Season
This is kind of weird because writing about shoes will make this my second post about clothing…18.1 percent! My life is not 18.1 percent fashion, that is fo sho. Anywayz… Today was rainy as per usual in Norcal, but it was actually even rainier than usual. If you think that kept me from donning flippy [...]
Logic… Wishful Thinking
Logic, n. The art of thinking and reasoning in strict accordance with the limitations and incapacities of the human misunderstanding. -The Devil’s Dictionary If A then B. A, so B. Not B, so not A. That’s logic right there. As I study truth tables for my Logic exam tomorrow, I notice that every statement [...]
Degrassi: The Next Generation Gap
Is there already a generation gap so soon? I still can’t drink, yet I feel myself becoming obsolete. Degrassi is such a beacon of popular culture for teens for its ability to effectively discuss relevent controversial issues. Am I not relevant?
Melissa's Very Own Harper's Index
Harper’s Weekly usually features an index of interesting numbers and figures. This is my attempt at a Harper’s Index, based on facts that pertain to me. Amount of Full-Time California State University Fees in 2009: $4,026 Amount in 2002: $1,428 Buying power that $1,428 in 2002 should have in 2009 based on inflation: $1,714.31 Percent [...]

What a buuatifel memory! I saw Raffi play many times at music festivals all around Ontario over the years. I always made a point to see him perform as I so enjoyed also watching the kids who were full of joy and dance as he played his infectious songs. Children and adults alike really enjoy his music!
